CALIFORNIA 2009 - INTRODUCTION

California has become one of the most important wine regions in the World. It is responsable foro ver 90% of the production that takes place in the US. This North American state is famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel and, more recently, Pinot Noir. It is also a well known destination for wine tourism as well as a centre for technological advanvces led by the Oenology and Viticulture Department from the University of California Davis.

The trip will last 8 days and will cover the areas of Napa, Sonoma and San Francisco. Almost 10 wineries will be visited where participants will be able to see the vineyards, vinification and growing rooms, as well as taste the different white, red, sweet and sparkling wines that are produced in the regions.

The trip includes an advanced course in viticulture and oenology in the prestigious University of California Davis.

There will also be time for leisure and tourism. Cities like San Francisco, Davis and napa will be visited. The group will be guided and accompanied at all times byThe Wine Academy of Spain’s staff, who will also act as translators.
