Thursday, June 15th

10.00 – 11.30
“The New Regions of Spain”

This session will introduce the regions in Spain which are being most mentioned on a national and international basis. The representatives of the wineries of  Bodegas Dos Victorias (Victoria Pariente), Casa de la Ermita (Pedro J. Martínez), Anima Negra (Francesc Grimalt), Viñas del Vero (Pedro Aibar) and Rene Barbier will explain the characteristics, soils, climate, varieties and wines from each of their regions. The following wines will be tasted: Manyetas 2003; Anima Negra 2003; Casa de la Ermita Crianza 2003; Casa de la Ermita Petit Verdot 2003; José Pariente 2003 Fermentado en Barrica, Gran Elías Mora 2003, and Viñas del Vero Syrah 2004 as well as Blecua 2001.

12.30 – 14.00
“1855 - History of the Bordeaux Classification”

Dewey Markham, is a prolific writer and an expert in Bourdeaux. Born in USA, he has been established in Bourdeaux for over 25 years and has become one of the maximum authorities in the famous classifications of 1855. Five wines will be tasted- one from each of the five divisions of the “Cru Classés”: Château Lafite-Rothschild 2002, Château Rauzan-Ségla 2002, Château Cantenac-Brown 2002, Château Marquis de Terme 2002 and Château du Tertre 2002.

16.00 – 17.30
“Champagne”

The representatives of three important Champagne houses will reveal the secrets which make this region produce the best sparkling wines of the world. The speakers will be Thierry Gascó, Chef du Cave for Pommery and President of the Association of Oenologists in France; Charles de Philipponat, Technical Director of Philipponat; Thomas Lignier, Technical Director of Perrier Joüet; and Christophe Jacquemin from Louis Roederer. The following wines will be tasted: Perrier Jouet Gran Brut, Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque 1996, Philipponnat - Royale Réserve Brut, Philipponnat - Cuvée 1522 Extra Brut, Philipponnat - Clos des Goisses 1991, Pommery Grand Cru Millésimé, Pommery Cuveé Louise 1995, Louis Roederer Brut Premier and Louis Roederer Brut Millesime 1999.

18.30 – 20.30
“Spain´s Great Single Vineyard Wines”

Ramón Llagostera and Javier Zacagnini will be in charge of the presentation. These great winemakers will explain what Grandes Pagos de España consists of and they will taste the wines that belong to this group: San Román, Mauro, Aalto, Finca Sandoval, Guelbenzu Lautus, Luna Beberide, Vallegarcía Viognier, Gran Calzadilla, Fillaboa,  Gran Caus, Mas Doix, Reserva Santa Rosa, Finca Valpiedra, Casa Castillo Pié Franco, Manuel Manzaneque, Dominio de Valdepusa Eméritus and Secastilla.

Friday, June 16th

10.00 – 11.30
“Greece & Portugal: the New World of Europe”

Nico Manessis is one of the maximum authorities in the world in Greek wines, author of various books and a collaborator in the most respected wine magazines in the world. Luis Lopes is one of the most respected wine journalists in Portugal. He is the editor of Revista do Vinho and an expert in Portuguese wines. Wines to be tasted include: 2005 Biblia Chora Assyrtiko-Sauvignon Blanc 2005, Thalassitis Santorini  Assyrtiko-Athiri-Aidani 2005, Gaia Estate Nemea  Aghiorghitiko 2003, Alpha Estate  Syrah-Merlot-Xinomavro 2003, Muscat Parparoussis Rio-Patras  Muscat a petit grains 2004, Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa 2003, Quinta do Vale Meão 2003, Carrocel Touriga Nacional 2003, Quinta da Dôna 2003, Vale de Ancho tinto 2003.

“What is a Great Wine?

Serena Sutcliffe is a Master of Wine and the person responsible of the Wine Department in the prestigious auction house Sotheby´s. Serena is an expert in the great wines of the world, especially in Burgundy. She is also author of numerous books. Serena will taste a series of legendary great wines such as: Vega Sicilia Único 1991, Gaja Barbaresco 2001, Tokay Oremus, Niepoort Oporto Vintage, González Byass Añada 1968 and two French Grand Cru to be confirmed.

16.00 – 17.30
“The Secrets of Cava”

Five well known names in the world of Cava will conduct this presentation where new tendencies will be explained and exclusive and novel Cavas will be tasted. These will include: Agustí Torelló, Jaume Gramona, Delfí Sanahuja from Castillo de Perelada, José Buján from Freixenet and Juan José de Castro de Codorníu. The following will be tasted: Gramona III Lustros Gran Reserva; Gramona Argent Gran Reserva; Jaume Codorníu Brut (Magnum), Codorníu Pinot Noir Brut, Castillo de Perelada Brut Reserva, Brut Nature Cuvee Especial, Agustí Torelló Mata Reserva Barrica, Rosado de Trepat,  Malvasía de Freixenet and Reserva Real by Freixenet.

18.30 – 20.00
“The Challenge of the New World”

Jancis Robinson is a Master of Wine, a writer for the Financial Times and is considered one of the most influential and respected personalities in the world of wine. She is the author of numerous books amongst which is the Oxford Companion to Wine. Jancis will taste: Clos Apalta 2001 (Chile); Penfolds Grange 1998 (Australia); Opus One 1998 (EE UU); Felton Road 2004 (Nueva Zelanda); Vergelegen 2001 (Sudáfrica) and Chacayes 2003 (Argentina)
