WINEFUTURE-RIOJA `09 - THE WORLD´S LEADING EXPERTS WILL MEET IN SPAIN IN NOVEMBER
Robert Parker and the most important World leaders will meet in Rioja to discuss the future of the wine industry.

WineFuture-Rioja 2009 is an international conference created and owned by The Wine Academy of Spain. This conference, supported by the CRDC Rioja, will be held in the city of Logroño on November 12th and 13th, 2009.


The most important world leaders of the wine industry will meet in Rioja to discuss the current challenges that the global wine industry is facing, providing solutions, ideas, strategies and leadership. Some of the topics that will be covered at the conference include the global financial crisis, the environment, how to improve sales, consumption trends, the challenges that the on-trade is going through, brands, marketing strategies and the emerging markets.

One of the stars of the conference is American wine critic and guru Robert Parker, who will visit Spain for the first time. Parker will make a speech, will take part in one of the panels and will conduct a guided tasting. Together with Robert Parker, The Wine Academy of Spain has confirmed the participation of the most influential names of the industry including Jancis Robinson, Oz Clarke, Steven Spurrier; experts in marketing such as Kevin Zraly (“Windows of the World Wine School”) or Robert Joseph (Founder of the International Wine Challenge); distributors such as Mel Dick (President of Southern Wine & Spirits), Dan Jago (Director of Wines and Spirits for Tesco), and Troy Christensen (President of Constellation Brands Europe, the World´s largest wine company), amongst many others.

The venue that will host WineFuture-Rioja 2009 will be Riojaforum in Logroño and the main sponsor of the event is the “Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja”. Winefuture-Rioja ´09 offers lectures, panels, a guided tasting with Robert Parker, an Official Dinner and an exhibitor´s area with a capacity for 100 tasting tables.

A very interesting feature of the event is the live broadcast of some of the most important speeches through the website of the event, which will allow more than 20.000 viewers to virtually attend the event from anywhere in the Planet. The conference is expected to attract more than 500 visitors from all over the world to Rioja, including, importers, distributors, exporters, marketeers, retailers, critics, writers, sommeliers and other wine professionals.

1.Baudouin Havaux - Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (Belgium)
Baudouin is the President of the Concours Mondial, which has become one of the most important international wine competitions. More than 6000 wines took part in the last competition, rated by a panel of experts from over 40 countries.

2.Charlotte Hey - Drinks Business (UK)
Charlotte is the editor of the prestigious Drinks Business Magazine, a point of reference for the British and European wine industry.

3. Dan Jago - Tesco (UK)
Category Director of Beers, Wines and Spirits for Tesco Stores. Dan is considered as one of the 50 most influential personalities of the wine industry and one of the most powerful wine buyers in Europe.

4. Dmitry Pinski _ DP Trade (Russia)
Considered as one of the most influential wine personalities in Russia. Founder and co-owner of DP-Trade, the most important distributor and importer of wine and spirits in Russia.

5. Felicity Carter - Meininger´s (Germany)
Editor-in-Chief of German based magazine Meininger's Wine Business International. Felicity Carter is an Australian journalist specialising in wine and wine business. Her work has appeared in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age newspapers, as well as in a range of lifestyle and business magazines.

6. Gary Vaynerchuk - Wine Library (USA)
Gary has become a real celebrity in the United States through his online video programme Wine Library TV. His no-nonsense approach to wine and his modern, lively and energetic approach has made Gary´s website one of the most visited of the industry.

7. Jancis Robinson OBE, MW - (UK)
One of the most respected wine writers and the author of the Oxford Companion to Wine, amongst other books. As the wine editor for the Financial Times and through www.JancisRobinson.comshe has become one of the most influential writers. She was the first person outside the trade to obtain the prestigious Master of Wine qualification.

8. Jeremy Benson - Benson Marketing Group (USA)
President of Benson Marketing Group, a leading wine marketing agency with offices in Napa, New York and Rioja. It provides Public Relations, Direct Marketing, and Digital Media services for the wine industry.

9. Jorge Ordoñez - Orowines (Spain)
As head of Orowines, Jorge is the most important and influential importer of Spanish wines in the United States. Jorge is also the owner of his own winery.

10. José Peñín - Grupo Peñín (Spain)
“Pepe” Peñín is considered as one of the most important wine critics of Spain. He is the author of the prestigious “Guía Peñín of Spanish Wines”, one the most important references on Spanish wines. He is also editor of the Spanish magazine Sibaritas.

11. Juan Such Juan - Verema (Spain)
One of the founders of Verema.com, the most important and visited on-line wine community of Spain. Phd in Economy and Professor of Economy for the Universidad de Valencia, Spain. Expert in on-line communities and Social Media.

12. Kevin Zraly - The Wine Advocate (USA)
Founder of the Windows of the World Wine School, Kevin is considered as the best wine educator in the United States. He is a member of the team of reviewers for Robert Parker and a highly successful author.

13. Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW - The Wine Advocate (Asia)
Based in Singapore, Lisa is an expert in the Asian market. She currently works as part of the team of reviewers for Robert Parker. She is a Master of Wine and a former wine educator for Tokyo’s Academie du Vin.

14. Manuel Julia - Fenavin (Spain)
Director de FENAVIN Feria Nacional del Vino, desde 2001 hasta la actualidad. Director del Centro de Información Europea.Licenciado en Ciencias de la Información por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

15. Mel Dick - Southern Wine & Spirits (USA)
Vicepresident for Southern Wines & Spirits and the President of the wine división of the largest and most powerful distributor of the United States. Mel is considered one of the 10 most influential personaltities of the global wine industry.

16. Matheiu Chadronnier - Group CVBG (France)
General Manager of the CVBG Group, leading company in the distribution of grands-crus wines and producer of premium wines with the Dourthe brand. Mathieu is part of the new generation in bordeaux."

17. Miguel Torres - Bodegas Miguel Torres (Spain)
President of Bodegas Miguel Torres, which has interests in Penedés, Ribera del Duero, Priorat, Chile, California and China. Miguel is a pioneer in the research and adaptation of his winery to the latest environmental techniques.

18. Nicola Jenkin - WRAP (UK)

19. Pancho Campo MW - The Wine Academy (Spain)

23. Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate (USA)
Considered as the most influential wine critic in the history of the industry. Founder of the prestigious nnewsletter The Wine Advocate and writer of numerous books on wines. Robert M. Parker, Jr. Is a former attorney and the only wine writer/critic in history to be given the highest Presidential Honour by two French presidents and one Italian president.

24. Robin Kelley O´Connor - Sherry-Lehman (US)
Director of Sales and Education for Sherry-Lehmann Wine Merchants in Manhattan. Ambassador and spokesperson for the Bordeaux Wine Bureau, representing the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux in the US, Canada and Mexico. Former President of the Society of Wine Education.

25. Steven Spurrier - Christie´s (UK)
Founder of l’Academie du Vin, France’s first non-government wine education programme. Founder of Christie’s Wine Course. The recent Hollywood movie “Bottleshock” is based in his famous 1976 Judgement of Paris wine tasting. One of the leading experts and most respected writers of the industry.

26. Oz Clarke - (UK)
Oz Clarke is one of the world's leading wine experts. He has won all the major wine writing awards both in the UK and the USA, including the Glenfiddich, André Simon, Wine Guild, James Beard, Julia Child, World Food Media and Lanson awards; and most recently in 2006 he won the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition International Drinks Communicator of the Year Award.

27. Troy Christensen - Constellation Brands Europe
President of Constellation Brands Europe, the world´s largest and most important wine company. Before being promoted to President, Mr. Christensen served as Chief Financial Officer of Constellation Europe.

28. Ulf Sjodin MW - (Sweden)
