The British publication Drinks Business Magazine has published in the January edition its Green List. This is the list of the top 50 most influential companies and personalities of the wine industry in relation to environmental affairs. Drinks Business Magazine, which is one of the most prestigious publications of the wine industry, underlines that, although there is a growing economical crisis, most companies are still paying close attention and investing in the environment.

The first Spanish speaking organization that appears in this list is The Wine Academy of Spain and its President Pancho Campo MW, ranked in the number 15 position. The next Spanish company, listed in position number 17 is Bodegas Miguel Torres, followed by Viñedos Orgánicos Emiliana and Concha y Toro from Chile and Freixenet in the number 35 spot is. Its is a remarkable achievement for The Wine Academy to be ranked higher than very powerful corporations such as Constellation, Fosters and Amorim. The Green List is lead by Tesco, Carrefour, Wal-Mart and by the recently elected American president Barack Obama.

The commitment of Pancho Campo and The Wine Academy of Spain to create awareness of the impacts of climate change in the wine industry have been the main reason to be included in the Green List. The 2008 edition featured the participation of the world leaders in this topic, including Vice-president Al Gore. "This is a fantastic recognition to the tremendous effort and investment that we have put into helping fight the climate crisis. I feel very honoured that our small organization has been included amongst some of the largest and most powerful companies around the globe", declared Pancho Campo when informed by Drinks Business Magazine.
