CLIMATE CHANGE & WINE 2006

The First World Meeting on Global Warming and Wine, organised in Barcelona, on March 24th and 25th, 2006 was a success from all points of view.

A hundred and forty eight professionals (including winemakers, oenologists and sommeliers, both Spanish and foreign) took part in the seminars and debates that, for two days, The Wine Academy of Spain organised in order to analyse a problem that the wine industry has never faced until now.

The leading world experts took part in this event, including: Dr. Greg Jones from the University of Southern Oregon, Dr. Richard Smart from Australia, Dr. David Smart from UC Davis, Dr. Mª Jose Truco from UC Davis, Adam Lechmere from Decanter, Carlos Falco from Spain, Dr. Christian Butzke from Purdue University, and Jose Picatoste from the Spanish Office for Climate Change.

It was also remarkable the attendance of the international media including names such as BBC, Bloomberg, Decanter, Wine Enthusiast, Drinks Business Magazine, Wine Business, Il Corrieri Vinicolo, Australia & New Zealand Wine Industry journal, TVE, TV3, Vinealis… up to a total of 40 journalists from 17 countries covered the event.
